Majoritarianism is not nationalism

Starting with the word Majoritarianism which reflects about the society in which a group or a community in majority will rule and set their own supremacy .  A renowned historian of ancient India professor of  JNU  Romila Thapar  in her live online lecture said , " Nationalism is the reflection of how people in a society think about their collective self . The collective means that everyone that constitutes the nation should be included as equal citizens .  But when nationalism is defined by a single identity , which can either be language or religion or even ethnicity , then nationalism gets derailed into majoritarianism . And majoritarianism is not nationalism . " She further said that struggle for independence had an inclusive nationalism of Indians opposed to British rule. But apart from these thoughts many people and politicians became so blind in love for Hinduism that they are not ready to understand the meaning of Nationalism. Their blind love is teaching them about Hindutva ideology and killing the humanity in them .

If you see the data of non - secular states in terms of economy and national prosperity index what you will find is that the country which define themselves as a religion based country and not secular ,  is facing hundreds of problems every day . Very few Islamic countries which are blessed with lots of natural resources have better economy but as a whole it is worst for other non secular nations.

Indian media has also played a vital role in growing intolerance in our country. Indian Muslim is the largest minority in India which constitutes 14% of Indian population. This Indian media has spread the Islamophobia on the minds of Hindus just because of their massive reach to the people. From day to night , these media are conducting prime time debates calling Muslims anti-national and projecting them as backward and disloyal to India. When history of this time will be read , Indian media will be reasonable for the murder of democracy.

Which is more superior: Religion or humanity?

Religion and humanity have always been entwined with one another, laced in a beautiful yet cryptic mess with their relationship continuously being restructured by society. Both exist in the mind, soul and heart of every individual, weaving webs of connection across the globe and fusing together communities. Sometimes, it can be deemed as too difficult to isolate the two concepts of humanity and religion. Discovering where one concept ends and the other begins is considered confusing, thus bringing the question of ‘is religion or humanity more superior’ to light.                                            Courtesy : Forbes.com Only once you start to develop your understanding of the meaning behind the two notions of human interaction, do you begin to realise that humanity is far more superior to religion. Being the basis of society, humanity is the framework of how we, as humans,...

Secularism vs communalism

Secularism and Communalism are the two different social ideologies. In simple words, the former one stands with the belief that religion should not influence or be involved in the organization of society, education, government, etc.   On the other hand,   the attempts to construct religious or ethnic identity, incite strife among people from different communities, and to stimulate communal violence between those groups, comes under the definition of communalism. The world has over 200 countries as a secular state, among which China, India, United States, Indonesia, Pakistan, Brazil, Bangladesh, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy, South Africa, South and North Korea, Iraq, Poland, Sri Lanka,  are the most popular ones. Even though Hindu nationalists did not participate in the Constituent Assembly to draft the country’s constitution, Hindu traditionalists were all present in the making of the constitution. There was a lot of pressure on Nehru and B. R. Ambed...
